​KVTC & Lal Qila
In November 2011, Lal Qila (link), one of Karachi’s favourite restaurants, visited KVTC and presented us with a wonderful partnership offer.

Lal Qila’s team visited with Marketing Head Mr.Anas Farooqui to find out how they could do their part in improving the lives of disabled people.

The team visited all the classes and skill depts and interacted with the trainees and was more than pleased with the staff and trainees of KVTC, eventually establishing a Sheltered Workshop Partnership. This involves:

1) In house product packing orders of Lal Qila for our trainees.
2) Job placement opportunities at Lal Qila restaurant for the trainees of KVTC
Lal Qila Sheltered Workshop:

On the 17th of Nov 2011 KVTC was given a project packing work to be done by the trainees of KVTC. Our trainees were to;

Over the next two weeks the trainees prepared around 3000 packets for Lal Qila far exceeding their expectations in terms of quality & quantity!

The project was held under the KVTC Shelter workshop dept where more than 10 trainees were engaged in the packing activity under teacher’s supervision.
2) Job placement opportunities at Lal Qila restaurant for the trainees of KVTC:
7 trainees of KVTC were selected for the job interviews at Lal Qila;

On the 23rd of Nov 2011 the Lal Qila team came and conducted interviews of trainees for potential employment at Lal Qila:
Since 28th Jan 2012 one of the 2 successful candidates from the interviews held earlier Mr Hasham bin haroon has been placed on actual job site of Lal Qila restaurant in the packing dept.

Soon, more trainees/successful candidates will also be called for their initial job probation period.
We hope to continue & build on this partnership and intend to increase our capacity so that more of our trainees, that may not find mainstream employment, can still earn a living through an honest day’s hard work.
